In the middle of May Swedish delegation visited Karelia

On May, 14-16, a big Swedish delegation consisted of the official delegation and delegation of representatives from a number of Swedish companies and organizations in the sphere of energy and construction visited Karelia. The visit to Karelia was initiated by the Consulate General of Sweden and Swedish Trade Council in St.-Petersburg with participation of Swedish Energy Agency and Swedish Bioenergy Association.
Today Sweden is universally recognized leader in adoption of energy-efficient technologies and use of bioenergy. And there are plans in Karelia within five years to refuse fuel oil for heating and use other kinds of fuel. So the interest to cooperation is mutual.
During the trip Swedish delegation visited a boiler house in Pryazha settlement functioning with the use of local kinds of fuel (peat and wood chips). Moreover, the delegation had a chance to look at the process of building of the plant for production of Orient Strand Board in Petrozavodsk. Ramböll CJSC being one of the affiliates of Ramböll Group takes part in building of the plant.
Official delegation led by the Consul General of Sweden in St.-Petersburg Mr. Jan Nyberg had several meetings with the leaders of the Republic of Karelia, Petrozavodsk and the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia.

On May, 15, Russian-Swedish round-table “Potential of Swedish Companies' Participation in Projects in the Field of Bioenergetics and Switching Boiler-Houses to Biofuel in the Republic of Karelia” was held in Petrozavodsk. About 40 representatives of regional and local authorities of the Republic of Karelia, organizations and companies in the sphere of communal infrastructure and construction participated in the round-table.

Innovative solutions for equipment for boiler houses and production of biofuel were presented by the Swedish Bioenergy Association, Petrokraft AB, OPCON Bioenergy AB, Megamet AB, Pemco Träpellets AB, HOTAB Group.
Energy-efficient solutions for new kind of building were presented by Camfil International AB and Lindab Group.
Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) and Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) presented existing opportunities for financing of projects in the sphere of energy efficiency in Russia.
Karelian participants of the round-table were very interested in the given information and active in discussions.
