Teachers from Petrozavodsk visited Northern Sweden

2 april 2019

Last week, teachers from Petrozavodsk schools — teachers of chemistry, biology, and geography, visited Northern Sweden to learn about the work of the children’s scientific and educational centers Teknikens Hus in Luleå, Exploratoriet in Skellefteå and Umevatoriet in Umeå. All centers operate on the principle of interactivity, clearly and in an accessible form telling visitors about complex physical and chemical processes, about the work of local industries and popular technologies in everyday life.

It was interesting to learn about the principles of such centers. All of them are the result of cooperation between the municipalities, the Universities of Luleå and Umeå, and local large enterprises, which often finance installation of the new exhibitions.

The trip was organized by the Swedish-Karelian Business and Information Center as a side event of the Karelia CBC Eduwater project — Education for sustainable water use.
